Web Hosting E-mail Setup Guide
You have three options available for sending and receiving email with your account which are described below. You would use POP email if you need to send and receive mail from a unique email address like name@yourdomain.com using Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express. You would use email forwarding if you wanted email forwarded to and exiswting email account like an AOL acocunt. (ie. name@yourdomain.com forwarded to name@aol.com). Finally you would use webmail if you need to send and receive mail using a web browser.
1.
POP E-mail Accounts: These are email accounts that you will be able
to use with Microsoft Outlook Express or Microsoft Outlook. With POP email
accounts you will be able to send and receive email from an address like
'john@yourdomain.com'. To set up these POP email accounts simply
login to your control panel and then click on the 'Add POP Accounts',
button and then follow the instructions for adding a POP account.
When setting up your
email addresses they can either be POP accounts or mail forwarding accounts
but not both.
To setup your POP email
you can configure your Outlook or Outlook Express with these general settings:
Email
Address = username@yourdomain.com
Mail Server user name = username provided when adding POP account through
control panel
(Note: your username should be in this format: jill_domi)
Outgoing SMTP Mail Server = smtp.yourdomain.com
Incoming POP3 Mail Server = mail.yourdomain.com

2. Email Forwarding:
If you have an existing email account like 'john@yahoo.com' and you
would like to create an email address like 'john@yourdomain.com' and then
have mail forwrded to your current 'john@yahoo.com' address that is sent
to your 'john@yourdomain.com' address, then you would choose the email
forwarding option. So if mail is sent to 'john@yourdomain.com',
it would actually just get forwarded to your 'john@yahoo.com' account. With
this email option you would not be able to send mail out as 'john@yourdomain.com.
To set up email forwarding accounts, you would simply login to your
control panel and then click on the 'Email Forwarding', button and then
follow the instructions for creating an email forwarding account.
3.
Web Mail: Your Hosting account also comes with Web Mail. Web Mail
is a powerful program that allows you to access your email 24 hours a
day from any browser in the world!!! If for some reason your ISP
does not allow you to send email then web mail is the perfect solution
for you to send email and have it go to users as AnyName@.
Before accesseing and
setting up Web Mail, you will need to create a POP account first by following
the POP account instructions above. Once your account is setup follow
the instructions below:
Go to
this address: www.myhostingadmin.com/webmail/
and login with the login and password that was provided to you when you
set up your POP account. Once you login, click on the 'Options'
link. Then click on 'Personal Information'. This is the page you need
to set-up. Fill out this page completely or you will not be able to
send mail. Whatever email you specify on this page is the email that
your recipients will see.
